What can I expect from my session with Amy

Because she utilizes a variety of techniques and modalities, a massage with Amy may seem different from a typical massage you've had before, or maybe this is the first time you've had a massage.  Either way, here are a few things to consider to help you feel more comfortable and have a positive experience.

At the beginning of the session, we will go over your medical history to insure your safety and best options.  We will then determine your goals for the session, discuss the treatment options and then get to work.  Below are a few responses to frequently asked questions.

This is completely up to  you.  I can work with clothes on or off. It is always up to the client and their level of comfort.  There are benefits to both options.  If the focus of the session is more relaxation, then undressing is usually preferred so I can use lotion and oils on the skin ( mainly the back and legs). And, if you choose to undress, you are always draped to maintain your modesty and comfort.

If we are focusing on specific pain and injury reset, then comfortable clothing is preferred as we do a lot more moving around.

Do I have to get undressed?

If you choose to undress, then comfortable clothes that are easy to change out of. If staying clothed, something that is easy to move in, such as a t-shirt or tank top and exercise type pants or shorts.  Hoodies and jeans are a little more difficult to work in.

What do I wear?

Usually 60 or 90 minutes.  This includes intake and getting changed.  I usually recommend 90 minutes for the first session because the intake and assessment take a little longer.  After that, we will determine together the length of any subsequent sessions based on your needs and goals.  Longer sessions are available, if desired. Shorter sessions usually are not because it is difficult to get everything done in less time than an hour.

How long is a session?

This is completely dependent on your goals and how your body responds to the treatments.  If  you’ve had an issue for a long time, it will usually take more sessions to resolve it.  It takes time for the body to unwind and get used to the “new” proper alignment. It also depends on the patterns that you are engaging in between sessions.  If you continue the same things that caused the issue, it may keep coming back. We will discuss all these during your session.

How many sessions will I need?

I request that you do not bring them. I recommend you find a babysitter and take this time for you. It is difficult for us to focus on you if you are concerned about your children, or if they are interrupting the session.  Also, if we have other therapists working, it can be distracting to have the noise of children in the office.

Can I bring my kids during my session?

I do not bill insurance, however, I can usually run an HSA card and/or I can send an invoice to you so you can request reimbursement if your insurance covers it.

I do accept cards, venmo, cash and checks

Do you bill insurance?

We require at least 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment. Cancellation with less than 24 hours notice will be billed 50% of the price of the scheduled service. Cancellation with less than 12 hours will be charged full price. Reminders will be sent out 1-2 days prior to the session.

Clients who do not show up for a scheduled appointment will be billed for the full price of the scheduled service. Emergencies, such as illnesses or inclement weather will generally not result in any missed session charges, however this is to be determined at the practitioner's discretion. Clients with any contagious condition are asked to notify their therapist and reschedule their appointment.

All scheduled appointments will end at the scheduled ending time. Late arrivals are charged for the full session.

What if I'm late or have to cancel?

Massage can be detrimental in some cases, for this reason, you need to let your therapist know everything about your health such as past and present medical problems; this can determine if the treatment is suitable for you. Also, this information allows the therapist to make changes to the session. In some cases, a doctor’s release may be required to continue.

Why do I need to fill out a medical history?
